Newport Pell Bridge Toll Rates (per crossing)


Effective February 15, 2015

In order to qualify for a discount plan, you MUST use a RITBA issued E-ZPass and your 2-axle vehicle must be less than 7,000 lbs. GVW (gross vehicle weight)


Newport Pell Bridge Rhode Island E-ZPass Discount Plans

*Discount plans apply to RITBA issued transponders only.  Transponders issued by other tolling agencies are charged the Newport Pell Bridge Toll Rates (per crossing) as seen in the table above.

Note: If you have more than one transponder on the account, you may opt to apply different plans for the different transponders provided that all qualifications are met.

Unpaid Toll Invoice

An Unpaid Toll Invoice is a form filled out by the driver that is the result of having no cash, or credit/debit card to pay the toll, no E-ZPass transponder in the vehicle, or an invalid E-ZPass transponder while going through the gated lanes at the Newport Pell Bridge. You may contact the Administration Office for assistance with unpaid toll invoices at 401-423-0800, Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm.

Note: If you have gone through the Open Road Tolling lanes and did not have an E-ZPass please call 1-877-743-9727 Monday-Friday 9:00am-6:00pm, Saturday 8:00am-1:00pm.


Any person who does not have funds to pay the required toll for the Newport Pell Bridge will be issued an Unpaid Toll Invoice by the Authority. The invoice will require the payment of the toll at $5.00 per axle which is to be paid within fourteen (14) days from the date of issue to avoid fees.  Payment can be done either by U.S. cash in person or by mailing a check payable to RITBA.  The address would be:

  • On day 15 an additional $40.00 fee is added;
  • On day 46 an additional $35.00 fee is added;
  • If not paid at this point in time, the unpaid toll invoice could become a matter of the courts.

All disputes concerning the issuance of this Unpaid Toll Invoice shall be made in writing to the address provided above within fourteen (14) days of the date of this Unpaid Toll Invoice.
