The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority has increased vehicle restrictions on the Newport Pell and Jamestown Verrazzano Bridges. Only automobiles, pickup trucks, flatbed trailers, and commercial buses are permitted to cross the bridge.  All other vehicles are prohibited from travel across the bridges.Â

The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority operates and maintains the Newport Pell, Mount Hope, Jamestown Verrazzano and Sakonnet River Bridges along with Route 138 through Jamestown and ten smaller bridges associated with this highway and the approaches to the four major bridges.

The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority has lifted travel restrictions on the Newport Pell and Jamestown Verrazzano Bridges. All bridges are open for normal travel.
Due to expected inclement weather, the RITBA E-ZPass and Administration offices will be closed on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

RITBA has received numerous calls from individuals indicating that they received a text regarding an unpaid toll. This is a common scam and advise that you do not click the link. If you are an RI E-ZPass customer, you can always check the status of your bill at www.ezpassritba.com. If you have an E-ZPass account with another agency, please contact that agency directly.
TRAVEL ADVISORY: Newport Pell Bridge westbound off-ramp closure scheduled for Tuesday, December 10th from 6AM to 3PM.
